History & philosophy of the Hotel Engel

The year 1862 saw the birth, if you will, of today's Engel resort. That was when the great-grandparents of Luis Kohler decided to open their guest rooms in their home in Welschnofen. A little more than 100 years later, and the Hotel Engel became one of the few places to stay in South Tyrol with an indoor pool. When, thirty years later, Luis and Carmen Kohler took over the operation in the first year of the new millennium, the Hotel Engel became a spa resort and the first in South Tyrol with the popular three-quarter pension.
Today Johannes and Matthias, as the fifth generation, have taken their place in the Engel chronicle. A vision has become reality: the Gourmet & Spa Resort Engel - a hotel that is so much more than just a holiday destination.

The “Engel idea”

The Engel is founded upon a holistic philosophy developed over the generations. At its centre is the idea of conscious being, one that the Kohler family have always put into practice - and passed on to their guests.
